Obituary:

Melvin Ikeuchi, 82, of Kahului, died on January 19, 2012 at home under the care of Hospice Maui.

Services will be held at Wailuku Hongwanji Mission on Friday, January 27, 2012. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm, with a service at 5:00pm. Scattering of ashes at a later date. The family requests casual attire.

Mr. Ikeuchi was born on April 25, 1929 in Waikapu.

He was the owner/operator of Mel's Wrench House.

He survived by his wife, Sueko; sons, Wesley and Bruce; daughter, Brigid (Royden) Heirakuji; sister, Yukie Emoto; granddaughter, Kimiko; 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

   Mel will be remembered for his genuine kindness. He was always nice to me and very helpful when I needed my car fixed. I was very happy to get to know the entire family through my job at State Farm Insurance. I last saw Mel while I was receiving chemo at the Pacific Cancer Center in 2010. We had a nice chat and he made us laugh. My condolences go out to the entire family. May God Bless You all.
