Kay invited me to lunch in Cambridge, and he was full of insights and knowledge, and i learned so much from him. Later we brought our newborn baby for a party at Kay's place in Honolulu -- we lived close by. My uncle and aunt were his neighbors in Wailuku. He was a very kind individual and we were linked in many many ways.
We met at Wellesley. Congregational Church. Our children were in school together. We celebrated Christmas Eve together for several years.
What a warm, loving man.
Worked with Kay for years at MIT. Last memory was a visit to him and Lorraine with my wife Lorraine when we visited Maui in 1993. I remember how happy he seemed to be there. Best wishes. Tom Moebus
Having studied at Harvard, Kay advised me to attend Yale to expand my horizons beyond California's provincialism. He was right and I am indebted to him and Lorraine for sharing their love of knowledge.
