Happy Heavenly Birthday, "Robear". I miss you more than you could know.
Bob has always had a very special place in my heart. At the time of his passing, we had been friends for 40 years, meeting on a blind date in 1976. Over the years, we "zigged and zagged" in and out of each other's life, taking trips to San Juan, PR, camping in the Virgin Islands and Ricketts Glenn, and a couple of trips to Walt Disney World.
In mid September '16, Bob and I planned a weekend long reunion in Chattanooga as a layover on his trip home to PA to spend a couple months with his siblings. I was so thrilled to be hosting him in my new 'home' city. I was completely shocked and grief-stricken to learn that his lack of communication on his flight plans was due to his untimely passing.
I will always remember Bob as being 'bigger than life': enthusiastic and talented at whatever he put his hand to, compassionate, fun-loving and never afraid to work for whatever he wanted and always successful. Bob also showed me his spiritual side when he learned my sister was dying of cancer. The card and note he sent to my sister, along with the conversations we had about 'life after life' made me love him even more. He was excited and intrigued about the "next big adventure" after this life was lived. Neither of us imagined that he would move to that next big adventure just 7 months later.
I am blessed to have had Bob in my life and I will always cherish all of my memories of the great times we spent together. (photos I posted are from '76, '79 and 2014)
