George Yoshikazu Matsuo

George Yoshikazu Matsuo, 90, of Wailuku, passed away under the care of Islands Hospice on December 13, 2017. He was born on July 14, 1927 in Captain Cook, Kona. A private celebration of life was held for George by his immediate family. George was an Electronic Technician for the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) for more than 30 years. He was part of a team that was responsible for maintaining and repairing all of the radio, radar and homing beacons operated at the Kahului airport tower and up at Haleakala. He took great pride in raising a beautiful garden full of vegetables, grew fruit trees and raised beautiful orchid and anthuriums. He loved to golf, fish, go diving, and take his family camping to Olowalu, Makena and Hana many times during his younger years, he had a very soft spot for his many weiner doggies, Misty, Mije and Choko, and cat Lehu and traveled to exotic locations like China to see the Great Wall with the love of his life Kats. George is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Katsuko Matsuo; daughter, Jessie (Michael) Miyahira; son, Terence (Cindy) Matsuo. He is predeceased by his son Peter. Also survived by his sisters, Betty Matsuo, Elsie Nakaji, Ruby (Glenn) Machida, Shirley (Frank) Itai, and Doris (Dave) Gleason. Grandchildren Nicole Miyahira, Carissa Miyahira and Dayna Matsuo. Family requests no Koden, Monetary gifts or Flowers.
