Ikiko Watanabe

Ikiko Watanabe, 100, of Kahului, Maui, passed away peacefully at her home on Maui 27, 2021 with her endearing family by her side. Ikiko was born on October 7, 1920 in Pu'unene, Maui to Inao and Kiku Yoshino and was the eldest of 10 children. Ikiko was the cafeteria manager for many years at various schools, including Waihe'e Elementary and Lihikai Elementary. Her favorite pastime was tending to the plants in her yard. Plants and flowers made her very happy; she would always say, "My plants keep me alive." She would often sit outside on the patio, enjoying the quite sounds of nature and enjoying the companY of her pond and plants. Ikiko married the love of her life, Masatsugu Watanabe, and they were blessed with three children; sons Robert and James, and daughter Charlene. She is predeceased by her husband and her children, Robert and Charlene. She is survived by: son, James (Linda) Watanabe; son-in-law, Ronald Ideta; grandsons, Ryan (Nikki) Ideta & Kristy (Sage) Imada; great-grandchildren, Aaron Ideta, Blake Ideta, Kaiya Ideta, Lily Ideta-Gomes, Lana Ideta-Gomes, Ashlyn Imada, Avery Imada; brother, Herbert Yoshino; sisters, Patsy Hiyakumoto, Sachiko Arakawa, and Kimiyo Nakamiyo. Mahalo to Hospice Maui for their excellent service. Private services were held". Thank you to Nakamura Mortuary and Maui Memorial Park for their impeccable service".
