January 30, 1932 - November 26, 2020
Leonora Ku’uleialoha Pascual, 88, of Kahului passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2020 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Hāna on January 30, 1932 to Juan and Anna Ho’opi’i Sithar. She attended Hāna School and graduated from Hāna High School in 1950, and later was employed at the old Libby Cannery in Haikū. In 1956, she married Loreto Pascual at the Pu’unēnē Assembly of God and made their home in Kahului. As a mother, she lovingly tended to her family and was also a child care provider for many years often watching nephews, nieces, and children of family friends. She cared and loved them like they were her own with many coming back to check on her well into their adult years, but also bringing their own children and their spouses during their visits. They tenderly referred to her as their second Mom. Leonora is predeceased by her parents; her husband Loreto; and brothers Percy, David, and Jeronimo. She is survived by her children, sons Larry (Stephanie), Darrel, and daughter Karen (Malia); grandsons Jeremy (Cecilia) and Dayton-Lee; and great-grandchildren Nainoa and Makalewalani. She leaves behind a brother, Juan Jr. (Dolly) of Las Vegas; sisters Rosie Quenga, Maile Sithar-Romena (Loren) both of Kahului; Joyce (Eugene) Tihada of Lāhaina; Olga Cortez (Rick) of Colorado; sister-in-law Janet Sithar of Seattle, Washington; hānai sisters Francine (Norman) Williams of Oregon and Mailelynn (Lorenzo) Licos of Kīhei, hānai children Bryon and Bryan Aloy, and Bryanna Steiff. Lastly, along with many cousins, nephews and nieces, she also leaves behind her fubaby Hōku. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Nakamura Mortuary in Wailuku. Family viewing will begin at 9 am until 10 am, and the family will receive the public via a walk-through from 10 am with a memorial service starting promptly 11 am. The family is asking for those who attend to comply with State, County, and Nakamura Mortuary’s Covid-19 guidelines. A temperature check and questionnaire will be required to enter the chapel, along with a face mask. Social distancing will also be observed. Her internment at Maui Veteran’s Cemetery, along with her husband Loreto, will be at a future date. The Pascual ohana would like to thank the staff, nurses, and doctors at Hale Mākua Kahului - Pikake Wing; Maui Memorial Medical Center; Maui Memorial Outpatient Center; Liberty Dialysis Maui; Dr. Robert Connaughton and Dr. Elaine Williams for their care and kindness throughout the years.
