Marvin Sadao Nakamura
March 29, 1948 - March 2, 2022
Marvin “Marv” Sadao Nakamura, born on March 29, 1948, was surrounded by his family when he peacefully passed away on March 2, 2022. He was 73 years young. Born to the late Itsumu and Namiye Nakamura, Marv was the eldest of two children. He grew up and lived in Kahului for majority of his childhood and adult life, graduating from Henry Perrine Baldwin High School, then spending time in the Army Reserves. His career path led him to becoming a painter where he worked at Fujiwara Painting, then later, JD Painting, where he worked until he retired. Marv was generally a quiet and private man. He enjoyed tending to his home garden, especially his Hawaiian chili pepper plants, and taking care of all the stray cats in the neighborhood. When he wasn’t gardening or engaging with the felines, you can be sure to find Marv on the green with his other golfing buddies or kicking back with his cousin, at home, with a Miller Lite in hand. Marvin is survived by his sister, Lettie Nakamura, of Honolulu, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and grandnephews. We’d like to extend a special mahalo to the staff at Hospice Maui Hale for the care and assistance they have provided to Marv, and our family, prior to his passing. A private ceremony will be held.
