Richard Kimura

It is with great sadness that the Kimura Ohana announces the passing of Richard Yasuo Kimura on July 18, 2020. Richard was born to Wallace and Ruth Kimura on August 24, 1944 in Honolulu, Hawaii. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, September 19th at King’s Cathedral, 777 Maui Veterans Hwy., Kahului, HI. 96732. Public viewing will begin at 830am with a service to follow at 9:00am. Richard was survived by his wife of 47 years, Corinne M. Kimura, his son Richard David (Shayvon) Kimura, daughters Selli Cito, Carrie (Jeremy) Low, Lesley (Eddie) Calaro and Deborah Ann Kimura. He has 13 grandchildren and 1 great grand-daughter. Richard has been a part of King’s Cathedral for 35 years and spearheaded their Maui Fair booth of Island Style Spareribs and Fried Ice Cream for over 30 years. He also was part of the Carpenter’s Union for over 40 years and has built many of the luxury hotels on Maui. He was known on job sites as the “UGettum” guy. He was an amazing fisherman and loved sharing his stories. He also was a great taylor, sewing items just by looking at it, recreating patterns. He truly had a green thumb, his garden was always very fruitful. He will be missed dearly. Nakamura Mortuary will be assisting the family with all arrangements.
