  • I would like to share my Nakamura experience, should it provide any help to those who may need to find some insight or comfort. Losing a loved one, regardless of the circumstance is devastating. I have had this experience twice in a short time, both my husband of almost 35 years, and my only child and last living family member. My husband died in Canada, my child, (37 years of age) in Maui. I was in disbelief when I received the call from the Maui police department that I lost my only child, and last living relative. Friends of my son suggested I contact Nakamura for his "journey home". Weary having flown, Bangkok, to Hong Kong, to Vanocuver, then Maui, (4 days non stop) I arrived, wondering what would await me, having done this before. Allow me to say more surprise. I was greeted by the most kind, and truly sincere team who genuinely cared about what I truly desired, and a team who cared about me, as a person, not my money, or what they could sell me. They cared about my friend who had accompnied me, to help with the numerous things that needed to be taken care of. I returned many times, even after the details and my son's event was complete, and Elizabeth took time on a weekend to assist me, on her day off, with respect, true sincerity, while her team sent us off with "thank you for allowing us to be here and care for your son. Nakamura's team radiated a spirit of understanding, sincerity, love, and for lack of a better explanation a friendship that will stay with me forever. My son was brought to a "family" that took him into their loving hands and arms to help me carry him home. No one wants to go to a funeral home, ever. If your day requires you to meet with a team to assist you in this journey, I cannot think of anyone better suited to assist in such a journey. Thank you to everyone at Nakamura for making this journey and experience such a kind loving time.

  • Dearest Nakamura Mortuary, We would like to thank all of you for the help and support in arranging our father’s services. A special thanks to Kathy for helping to bring our father back from the Philippines; Elizabeth for arranging the services; Divina and all the men for helping during refreshments and lunch to make sure all our guests were taken care of. Also, thanks to the gentleman (sorry we forgot his name) that helped us at Maria Lanakila (Church) all the way to burial services at Maui Memorial Park. Without all of you, we couldn’t have made our father’s last wishes possible. The quality of service you all provide made it easy for our entire family during our time of bereavement. Our deepest appreciation,
    The A. Family
