On Sunday, April 11th, 2021, Davelyn Mahealani (Kama) Dust, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunty, cousin and friend, went to be with the Lord. She was 49 years old. Davelyn was born on May 17, 1971, in Honolulu to David and Natalie ‘Tasha’ (Kamai) Kama. Davelyn spent most of her adult life caring for her many nieces and nephews. She married Evan Dust on August 23rd, 2003, and became a second mother to his two sons. Davelyn is survived by her devoted husband, Evan and sons Andy and Nick. She is also survived by her mom Natalie ‘Tasha’ Kama, her two brothers, Jeremiah (Kaapuni) Kama, and David Kama, Jr. and her eight sisters Kēhaulani Kama-Valdez, Davenat (Albert) Fernandez, Davileigh Kāhealani (Darryll) Naeʻole, Daveana (Guillermo) Kama-Fischer, Davideane ‘Lei’ (Chris) Kama-Sickels, Daverine Rena (Bill) Sassaman, Davilene ‘Lena’ Kama and Daverry Mahina Kama. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Kerri-Lyn ‘Kerr’ (Kawika) Abarra, Lance (Devyn) Valdez, Alexis ‘Lexica’ (Mason) Miyamoto, Chealsea ‘Cheals’ Fernandez, Savannah ‘Vannah’ Fernandez, Gabryella ‘Mai’ Fernandez, Blaze Fernandez, Kaylene ‘Anu’ Naeʻole, Jacquelyn ‘Jac-jac’ Nae‘ole, Leigha ‘Kana’ Nae‘ole, Thomas ‘La‘a’ Nae‘ole, Ivory ‘Kama’ Nae‘ole, Arieleeana ‘Boo’ Kama-Fischer, Mileena ‘Boo’ Kama-Fischer, Guillermo Jr. ‘Handsome’ Kama-Fischer, Kaulana ‘Handsome’ Kama-Fischer, Hi‘iaka ‘Pretty Girl’ Kama-Fischer, Ikaikaokalihiola ‘Handsome Boy’ Kama-Fischer, Stellamae ‘Mae-mae’ Sickels, Kehau ‘Menehune’ Sickels, Kahiwa ‘My Baby’ Sickels, Christopher ‘Puke-boy’ Sickels, Sarah-Rae ‘Ms.Rae’ Kama-Sassman, Emmaleigh ‘Sassy Emma’ Kama-Sassman, Willow ‘Pretty Williow’ Kama-Sassman, Aliiula Kekauoha-Kama, Nalia Kekauoha-Kama, Ioane Kekauoha-Kama. She is also survived by two grandnieces, Brook-Lyn ‘Brookie’ Feiteira and Tawni-Ann ‘Tawni-Lyn’ Abarra. Davelyn loved to plan parties, games, and other activities that kept her family connected. Over the years, she worked for numerous call centers and communications companies. She also provided childcare for her sisters’ children, helping raise many of her nieces and nephews. Among her many hobbies were singing karaoke and playing ‘ukulele, planning parties, making new friends, and cherishing special moments with her beloved family. Davelyn was an incredibly strong woman supported by her faith in our Lord Almighty Jesus Christ. Her strong Christian faith was the foundation of her marriage and her life, and she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Joyful Community Church: Maui Building Fund in honor of Davelyn Mahealani Dust. She was a faithful contributor and her goal was to see her church have a property of its own. Condolences may be offered in person from 4:30-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20th at Nakamura’s Mortuary, located at 1218 Lower Main Street, Wailuku. Due to COVID 19 we ask that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing.
