Agnes Tsuruko Ariyoshi's Obituary
Agnes Tsuruko Ariyoshi, 98, of Makawao, passed away peacefully at her home under the care of Islands Hospice and her loving family on September 1, 2016.
At her request, services were held privately.
Agnes was born in Kaalaiki Hilea Ka’u on June 21, 1918 to Yaichi and Hanayo Takeuchi; she was the eldest of 9 children. Agnes earned her nursing degree and retired as an LPN from Ka’u Hospital in 1983. She moved to Maui in 1997.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Koichi Ariyoshi; grandson, Darren Iwane; brothers, Kiyoshi & Jerry Takeuchi; and sisters, Grace Tachibana & Namie Goto.
She is survived by her son, Ralph (Pauline) Iwane; daughter, Lois (Nelson) Nishikawa; grandchildren, Gary (Collette) & Tammy Iwane; Cole, Max (Alysha), & Lyssa Nishikawa; 5 greatgrandchildren and 2 great-greatgrandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, James Takeuchi & sisters, Harumi Ikeda & Satsue Yoshishige.
