Akira John Ishikawa's Obituary
Akira John Ishikawa, 93, of Kahului, passed away on March 19, 2013. Born on May 15, 1919 at Uupalakua Ranch, Maui, son of Haruyoshi and Tomi Ishikawa. Born and raised in Ulupalakua Ranch, Akira was a paniolo and later became a race trainer and jockey.
Akira served in the 100th Infantry Battalion in World War II and then returned to Maui after the war to train and ride race horses. He worked at HC&S as a Utility Driver. Akira was a loving husband, father and a good fisherman. We will miss “Akira”.
Akira was preceded in death by wife, Tokiye Ann Ishikawa and daughter, Ann Ishikawa. He is survived by son, Lloyd, sisters Satoko Yamada, Molly Yoshie Saito, Nancy Motoyama, brothers Kiyoshi Maka Ishikawa and Tony Ishikawa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Nakamura Mortuary, services will begin at 11 a.m.
