Albert S. Kawai's Obituary
Albert Sadao Kawai peacefully passed away on April 14, 2023 at Maui Memorial Hospital.
Albert is survived by wife June, brother Arthur, daughter Jennifer (Jeffrey), son Scott (Amy), and grandchildren Eliot and Alina.
Albert was born on October 25, 1945 to Charles and Shizuko Kawai on Maui. He graduated from the University of Washington and was a teacher and VP at Lahainaluna High School, VP at Kalama Intermediate School, Principal at Haiku Elementary School, and VP at Maui Community School. He served in the US Army for 24 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Albert’s passion was going to Vegas. He traveled a lot and was happiest on cruises that had a gambling room. On his Mediterranean Cruise, some people called him Mr. Casino man. His favorite was the slots-Blazing Seven, Mega Bucks, and the Wheel of Fortune.
Albert was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed.
Services will be held on May 12, 2023 at Nakamura Mortuary. Private family visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., public visitation at 10:00 a.m.
