Alen Ernest Reed's Obituary
Alen Ernest Reed was born in Tyronza, Arkansas on April 10, 1922. He was the oldest of eight siblings, he has one surviving sister Ola B. Kidd of Los Angeles, CA. Stepdaughter, Pam Burner of Detroit, MI. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Alen started his first job at 18 years old at Ford Motor Company; referred by his dad. He eventually worked his way up to become a skilled trades foreman upon his retirement at 61. Forty-three years for the same employer! Alen moved to Maui in 1985 and quickly adjusted to the laid back style of living and never looked back. Alen was a man of many talents. A professional photographer, a weight lifter, a tailor, and a farmer. He went to MCC in his 80’s to learn videography so he could record his church’s services. He never shied away from hard work. He was a loyal, valued, and cherished member of Unity Church of Maui for over 30 years. He was well respected and loved. He touched many lives on Maui and was always available to help anyone in need. Alen lived a very long, independent and fruitful life. He was very serious about his health, exercise, diet, staying calm, and cheerful. Rarely mad, angry, or critical of his situation. Thus, his 100 years on earth was not an accident, it was his reward for living a good life! His passing on October 23, 2022 has left a gaping hole in all our lives, but he lives on in our hearts forever. He will be truly missed.
