Alma S. Torres, of Wailuku, HI, passed away on August 12, 2012, after a brief stay at Maui Memorial Medical Center.Visitation will be at St. Anthony’s Church, Wailuku, on Monday, August 20, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., with a funeral mass service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m., at Maui Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m., at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.Mrs. Torres was born in Wailuku, HI, on March 4, 1911. She raised anthuriums and developed her own special two-color variety, which she named “Darling”. She worked for the Senior Nutrition Program.She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Silva Torres.She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou (Robert); her son, Joseph S. (Eloise) Torres; a brother, Albert (Susan) Ikeda; and 6 grandchildren.Alma was an avid reader, a dedicated gardener, and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
