Alvin Mailani Haake's Obituary
Alvin “Buddy” Mailani Haake, 87, of Kahului, passed away at his home on June 9, 2016 under the care of his family and Hospice Maui. Buddy was born to Philip Dietrich and Katherine Ululani Haake on July 21, 1928 in Puunene, Maui.
Buddy was a star athlete at St. Anthony’s HS and the University of Hawaii excelling in football, basketball and baseball. He enjoyed fishing, golf, softball, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a former police officer with the MPD, a probation officer, and State Tax office appraiser. Buddy retired as a Land Agent for the Department of Land and Natural Resources, State of Hawaii and as a Lt. Col. with the Army Reserve— HHC 1st Battalion, 299th Infantry.
He is predeceased by his wife, Eileen Crossie Haake; brothers, Philip and Richard Haake, Sr.; sisters, Helen Murray and Katherine Haake.
Buddy is survived by his son, Philip (Kathy) Haake; daughters, Heidi Haake and Wendee (Al) Correa; grand-children, Chad Haake, Jesse (Terra) Haake, Kainoa Cor-rea (Daylan Saniatan), Malie Correa, Kim (Sean) Ramos; great grandchildren, Kalei, Kylie, Miki’ana, Ke’ale, and Colton Haake, Hokuala English, Kulia Saniatan, Elle, Beau Ramos and companion, Stephanie Ouchi.
Private services were held at the Maui Memorial Park. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with the arrangements.
