Ann "Annie" Marie Callies Bateman's Obituary
Ann "Annie" Bateman, age 68, of Olinda, Hawaii passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024. She was born on December 11, 1955 in Encino, Ca. She was a cherished and vibrant force in the lives of her family.
A graduate of St. Anthony’s class of 1974, Annie was known for her profound kindness, endless creativity and passion. Her journey through life was the most special kind; filled with invincible fortitude, unwavering determination, boundless love, and always on her terms. She never shied from expressing her heartfelt convictions. She played all her roles to perfection, enriched the lives of those who knew her, had amazing strength of character and cherished dance parties with her treasured grandchildren; Tyler, Trevor, Madelyn and Aubrey.
Annie’s life was a testament to her caring nature. A masterful storyteller, she could weave a tale with grace and wit that captivated hearts, with a creative flair and a spirit as vibrant as a Hawaiian sunset. Her laughter was a staple at gatherings and her ability to hold the attention of any room with her candid nature will be profoundly missed.
Annie’s legacy of her joyous spirit is carried on by her three children Justin (Ellen), Jordan (Josh), and Jenny (Joey). Her siblings Michael Callies, Bill Callies, Mary (Callies) Meehan, Bruce Guerin, and Lisa (Guerin) Guerin-Smeltzer will forever hold her memory dear, as will her partner of 30 years, Russel DeCoite. United in grief are her beloved niece, Cori Kauha’aha’a and her children, along with a host of nieces and nephews whose lives she blessed with her radiant soul and loving influence.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents William James Callies, Jeanne Marie (Callies) Guerin, along with her older sister Carole (Callies) Rotchford.
A celebration of Annie’s life will be arranged later this year honoring her remarkable life and the imprint her beautiful spirit has left on the heart’s and soul’s of all she encountered and the love and beauty she imparted on this world. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
