Arnel G. Salaguinto's Obituary
Arnel G. Salaguinto 30, of Wailuku passed away on October 16, 2023. He was born on May 9, 1993 in Wailuku, Maui. Known in the boxing community as “The Mighty Kalding”, Arnel was an undefeated boxer with a passion for coaching. He coached both children and adults while fighting under Central Maui Boxing Club (CMBC). During the pandemic, Arnel managed to continue coaching, creating an environment for his students to train and maintain their physical fitness. His love for boxing began at an early age, competing in Hawaii as well as in the Philippines.
A few months before his passing, Arnel along with other boxers and coaches from CMBC, became key contributors in the aftermath of the Lahaina fire. Arnel continued to assist for weeks to come by transporting donated goods, fuel, and other necessities for the affected families in Lahaina.
Arnel worked at Grand Wailea for 5 years and the last 7 years Arnel served as the logistics coordinator for their family business in Wailuku. He is survived by his grandmother, Arsenia Salaguinto, parents, Herminio and Leonida Salaguinto, his siblings, Armenio Salaguinto (Rozen) and Michelle Hummel-Casserley (Julian), and his 11-year old son, Aiden Salaguinto.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Christ the King Church Kahului. Public visitation begins at 6 p.m. His funeral service will take place on Friday, December 22, 2023 with public visitation at 9 a.m. with mass to follow at 11 am at Christ the King in Kahului. Burial to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park-The View.
