Arthur Pascua's Obituary
Arthur “Ata” “Art” Pascua
November 7, 1942 – February 16, 2026
Arthur “Ata” “Art” Pascua passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 16, 2026. Born on November 7, 1942, in Hilo, Hawaii, Arthur lived a life grounded in service, love for his family, and deep appreciation for the ocean.
After graduating from high school, Arthur proudly joined the United States Army and later continued his service with the National Guard. He went on to build a long and accomplished career with the United States Government at the Haleakalā Observatory atop Mount Haleakalā, where he dedicated more than 35 years before retiring.
Arthur’s connection to the ocean was lifelong. He spent countless days camping with loved ones, spear diving, and fishing on his boat, the “Punahele-Too,” lovingly named after his first grandchild. These moments on the water were among his greatest joys.
He is survived by his partner of 25 years, Eleanor Kahapea; daughter Ann Pascua; grandsons Kawena Kenolio and Aidan Lay; granddaughters Punahele-Aloha (Sherri) Kenolio, Nohelani (Chad) Kim, and Etwina (Brandon) Gomes; and great-grandchildren Makoa and Keanu Kim. He is also survived by sisters Elizabeth Pascua and Florence (Dante) Verdadero, and brother Gerry (Rose) Pascua.
Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, Teodoro and Felicidad Pascua; daughter Ardelle Pascua-Lay; brothers Benedicto and Teodoro Jr. Pascua; and sister Carol Tizo.
The family extends their deepest aloha and mahalo to the many special people who supported Arthur in his final days and offers a warm aloha to Hospice Maui for their compassionate care.
Private services and scattering of his ashes will be held at a later date.
