Benjamin Akona Akima's Obituary
Benjamin Akona Akima, a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Born to the late Thomas Akima and Emma Holomalia on Sept. 04,1939.
Ben is the 4th child of 7 children. He attended & graduated from Saint Anthony Catholic School. After graduating he enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps and served in Okinawa.
Upon completion of service, Ben returned home to Maui to serve his community, as a reserve with the Maui Police Department. He married his first wife (Kau i Akima Kaili) and together they had two daughters Cecilia (Sam) & Mari-Emma. Later he and Kau'i divorced and Ben married Norma Akima together they became a blended family with 9 children. He was a hard-working man and worked two jobs to support his family. Many know him from his time working as a guard with Ka'ahumanu Shopping Center and Kahului Airport. Ben, was known to be Mr. Aloha. No matter where he went, people stopped him to say Hi or share stories. Often you could find him at Kahului Harbor Hale or his favorite place on earth Las Vegas.
He will forever be missed and will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
He is survived by his Grand Daughter Trisha (Keoni) Akahi, Great Grandaughter Macy Ujano, his two brothers, 9 children, 35 Grandchildren, 68 Great Grandchildren & 3 Great
Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at Nakamura Mortuary in Wailuku on Sat. July 6th,2024 from 9am 1pm
