Bobbie Jean Namalani Lovato Uwekoolani's Obituary
Bobbie Jean N. Lovato Uwekoolani was born in Hana, Maui, on July 9, 1951, to Charles Moanaliha Uwekoolani Sr., and Violet Haupu Uwekoolani. She went to heaven on July 14, 2022.
At a young age, Bobbie Jean was an avid hula dancer and musician who entertained many fans of Hawaiian culture. She also was enlisted in the Military U.S Army with honorable mentions. She loved sewing and crocheting clothing and went to Maui Community College to take up Fashion Design. She was known to sew large wedding dresses, bridesmaid gowns and women’s fashion clothing. Her most prized possession was spending time with her family.
She leaves behind her daughter’s, Chelsea Kahala Uwekoolani-Vierra (Walter Vierra Sr.), Sonia Lapointe Lovato, son’s Poncho, George, Larry, and Emiliano; three grandson’s, Walter Vierra Jr., Edward Vierra and Vincent Vierra, a brother, Sanford Uwekoolani Sr., a sister, Mona Uwekoolani and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband Carlos Lovato; parents, Charles Moanaliha Uwekoolani Sr., and Violet Haupu Uwekoolani. Brother’s Charles Jr. “Sonny”, Wayne, and Danny; sister’s Irene, Janice, and Maile.
The last 15+ years of Bobbie Jean’s life was lovingly cared for by her long-term caregiver Mary Jean Guira and family.
She will be laid to rest at the Maui Veterans Cemetery in Makawao on September 12, 2023 at 1:00pm.
