OBITUARY – JUAN, CANDIDA
Mrs. Candida “Candy” Alcaraz Tomas – Juan from Lahaina, Maui passed away on January 01, 2023 at 1:18pm in Wailuku, Maui. Candy was born on October 03, 1926 in Brgy.Bagbag, Solsona, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She was predeceased by her husband Mariano “Manny” Alipio-Juan and her parents Dionicio Tomas and Jovita Alcaraz Tomas.
Candy went to Holy Ghost Academy in Laoag City, Philippines where she had only finished elementary school. She had many talents that included weaving, embroidery, farming with her father and also managing a small store. She was a wonderful mother to her children, and a great role model in teaching her children to be successful in their own lives and career paths.
She was an active member of the Kaunoa Senior Center in Lahaina where they would exercise to help build their mental and physical abilities. she was also an active leader in Women’s Club in the Philippines. She worked as a food prep at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. Through her hard work she was rewarded with trips and gifts that she loved.
Candy was known for being kind, caring, respectful and helpful in anyway. She was always friendly with everyone who came across her. Her strong faith as a Roman Catholic devotee made her life’s journey very fulfilling and wonderful.
She is survived by her children, Joseph (Gertrudes) T. Juan, Alberta (Estrella-predeceased) Goeffrey J. Domingo, Rosario (Gary) J. Wesa, Victoria (Glenn-predeceased) J. Watanabe, Alejandro (Marcy) T. Juan, Raquel (Donilo) J. Dalumpines, Nelson (Rosalina) T. Juan, Trelly Joy Juan Rasdas, Alemar Ganal Juan; she has 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Services will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Burial to follow same day at 12:30pm at Garden of Meditation.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kind texts, messages, emails, and calls that helped comfort them through this difficult time. Your inspiring words are very enlightening and uplifting to everyone in the family.
