Carol Bowlds Suguitan's Obituary
Carol Bowlds Suguitan Born on November 19th, 1942
a cherished educator, avid traveler, and lover of dance, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on - March 27th, 2024. Born in Brownwood, Texas, Carol's journey took her from the halls of Brownwood High School to the classrooms of North Texas University, where she earned her teaching degree.
In June 2009, Carol embraced the spirit of aloha and moved to Hawaii with her first husband, Anthony Bowlds. After his passing in 2011, Carol found love again and married Manny Suguitan on November 29, 2014. Together, they danced through life, exploring the world's wonders—from the glaciers of Alaska to the historic streets of Europe—always with Maui friends by their side.
Carol's love for ballroom dancing was matched only by her passion for crossword puzzles and the pages of a good book. She leaves behind a legacy of love and learning, survived by her devoted husband Manny, stepchildren Dominic and Massy Suguitan, and Pat and Joy (Suguitan) George, and step-grandchildren Cassidy Suguitan, Seth Suguitan, Ethan George, and Kalani George.
Predeceased by her first husband Anthony and her parents Darrell & Kati Crockett Shelton, Carol's memory will be forever cherished by her cousins, nephews, nieces, and the countless students she inspired.
In honor of Carol's life, we reflect on the words she held dear:
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God."
1 John 4:7 (NIV)
Carol's radiant spirit will be missed but never forgotten. As we bid her farewell, we take comfort in the love she shared and the lives she touched.
The Suguitan family has decided to decline flowers at this time and asks that, instead of flowers, please make a donation to the Maui Food Bank.
Viewing will be at Nakamura Mortuary on April 29th from 2 pm with services to follow at 3pm and a reception to at 4pm.
