Carole Mohan's Obituary
Carole Ann Mohan, 77, passed peacefully 4/10/2021 at Maui Memorial with her son present. Last rites were given by Father Sylverius Kerketta. Born to Ah Fat Dang and Elizabeth Doong Dang 2/15/1944 in Maui, Carole attended and graduated St. Anthony’s Catholic School. The Dang family owned and operated the Vineyard Chop Suey until its closure. After high school, Carole attended college. It was in California she met and married John Mohan in 1973. She and her husband moved states while he was in the armed forces. Carole would graduate college with a B.A. in Psychology and return to Hawaii to have two children with John while he was stationed in Oahu. The family would settle into a life on Maui where Carole served faithfully as an employee for St. Anthony School, Christ the King Church and as a substitute teacher for the Department of Education on Maui, retiring in 2016. Her passions were continuing a relationship with God, family, maintaining connections with friends/former classmates, teaching the youth and Scrabble. Carole will be fondly remembered with wide eyes, an excitement for life, always with loving advice and a caring smile by Bernard Dang (brother), John Mohan (husband), Kim Ogi (daughter) and Shaun Mohan (son). She was proceeded in death by both parents, Norman Dang (brother) and Myra Dang (sister). The family gratefully extends a special thanks to Arlene Canales, Margaret Enomoto, Erin Fulton, Irene Hultquist and Diana Ledward for the tremendous amount of love and fellowship they brought to Carole’s life. A viewing and service will be held on 5/27/2021 9:00 AM at Nakamura’s located 1218 Lower Main St. Wailuku, HI. A funeral mass is scheduled to be led by Father Gary Colton during that time. Anyone who wishes to celebrate her life is welcome to attend. Carole will later be laid to rest in a private service within the mausoleum at Maui Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be accepted in Shaun Mohan’s name for a memorial fund through WFCU. Memorial condolences/donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 1838 Kihei, HI 96753. Covid 19 measures and social distancing will be honored, a live stream of these service will be available, and seating will be reserved.
