Caroline Garcia Gonsalves' Obituary
Caroline Gonsalves, 94, passed peacefully into her eternal home on Oct. 3, 2013.
Visitation will be held at St. Anthony Church on Thurs. Oct. 17, at 9:30 a.m., and mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. Maui Memorial Park.
Caroline was born on Sept. 13, 1919 in Waikapu, Maui, to Joe Costa and Lucy Gomes.
She worked for the Maui Pineapple Company Cannery as a head forelady for 30+ years. Caroline loved spending time with her family. She made “broke da mouth” vinha d’alhos. Caroline appreciated the beauty of flowers and unusual plants. She had an extensive collection of crystals that she was especially proud of. Playing cards and Mah Jong were favorite pastimes.
She is survived by her son, George Wendell (Debbie) Gonsalves; sister, Theresa Edwards, 9 grandchildren , 31great grandchildren, 11 great, great grandchildren. Predeceased by son, Wayne R. Gonsalves and daughter, Rowena Malendrez; brothers, Frank ,Tony, Freddy and Billy Garcia; sisters, Eva Gonsalves and Dorothy Sang.
