Clara Fumiko Matsumoto's Obituary
Clara Fumiko Jinnohara Matsumoto, 86, passed peacefully in her sleep at home in Wailuku on November 1, 2016. She was born on January 15, 1930 in Kaheka Village, the youngest of five children. She attended Paia Elementary School and graduated from Maui High with the class of 1948. Clara worked for many years at the Ben Franklin Store until her retirement in 1992. She was a patient loving wife, mother, and devoted Tutu who could brighten a room with her unassuming smile and hearty laugh. She enjoyed her orchid garden, participating in activities at the Senior Center, and cooking for her family. Tutu will be remembered for her ono ogo namasu with baby clams. Clara is survived by one sister, Betty Yamashiro and her husband Masa of Kahului; three sons-Larry and his wife Marguerite of Haiku, Kelly and Keith both of Wailuku; three grandsons, Chad of the Big Island, Brad and his wife Hannah of Wailuku, and Trent of Wailuku; one granddaughter Amber of Newmarket, NH; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandson and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, husband Matsuichi who died in 2010, daughter Dawn Teves and granddaughter Jasmin "Cookie" Teves who passed last year. There are no calling hours. A private family service will be held. Clara's urn will eternally rest at Maui Memorial Park. Nakamura Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
