Constance Margaret Arzaga's Obituary
Constance “Connie” Margaret Arzaga, aged 86, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024, at Hale Makua, Kahului. She was born on April 19, 1938, in Wailuku, Maui, the eldest of twins born to Pegelio and Mary Arzaga. She was a proud resident of “old” Waikapu and was a 1956 graduate of St. Anthony High School along with her sister, Norma.
Connie lived and worked in San Francisco at Wells Fargo Bank from 1958 to 1970 when she returned to Maui to care for her ailing uncle and the growing family. Later, she put her cooking skills to use and worked at Baldwin High School for decades until she retired in the early 2000’s.
Besides her love for cooking, Connie also enjoyed reading and a challenging game of Scrabble. A devout Catholic, she was a fervent prayer warrior for those she cared for. For Connie, family was her deepest love and greatest gift. Though she never married, she built a strong foundation for her family, especially taking care of her nephews and nieces and their children and grandchildren. “Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.” (quote Michael J. Fox)
Connie was pre-deceased by her parents Pegelio and Mary Arzaga, sister Nellie Pellazar and niece Nadine Pellazar. She is survived by her sisters; twin, Norma Arzaga, Betty Arzaga- (Bob) Johnson and Judy (Joseph+) Alconcel and brother-in-law, Nathan Pellazar, Sr.
Her memory will be cherished by nieces and nephews; Tanya (Lee) Barbero, Christine (Bill) Barendrick, Joseph Alconcel, Jr., Trina (John) Napaepae, Nathan Pellazar, Jr., Chad Alconcel, Leticia (Lance) Tsukimura, Leah (Kaleo) Dancil, Celeste (Barney) Mollena, Tanisha (Phillip) Locke, 23 grand nephews and nieces and 17 great-grand nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony Church, Wailuku on Wednesday August 28, 2024. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Maui Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m.
