Courtney Rae Welch's Obituary
Courtney Rae Welch
December 11, 1980 - October 25, 2023
Courtney Rae Welch, 42, died peacefully in her home on Maui October 25, 2023 under the care of her family and Hospice Maui. She was born December 11, 1980 in Kansas City, MO to Lisa Steiner and Terry Welch. Courtney is survived by her mother Lisa Steiner, father Terry Welch, husband Mat Peterson, daughter Charlotte, sister Ashley Welch and her nieces Mei and Dorothy. Her most cherished role in her life was that of a mother.
In 2001 Courtney moved to Hana, Maui. She graduated from UH Maui and worked as a Registered Nurse at Medispa Maui for over 10 years as well as Honolulu Medspa full and then part time for 7 years. Her coworkers were considered her family and so many of her patients through the years absolutely adored her.
Courtney had the biggest heart, most beautiful smile and the biggest, most expressive brown eyes. Courtney was bold, vibrant, witty and fun with a larger-than-life personality. She lit up any room she walked into. Funny, clever, and like her father, she always had puns and sarcasm to throw into conversations. People could relate to her, she had a way of making her friends and family feel safe, happy, and relaxed around her. She had a beautiful voice and could improv the most hilarious songs to sing to her family and friends in the most operatic fashion. She was for sure a natural entertainer, the lite of parties, a star that shone brighter than most. Courtney was greatly loved by so many of her friends and family from all over the world and in her Maui community.
Courtney’s family would like to send our most heartfelt gratitude to Hospice Maui and all of her extended family and friends abroad and in our community who have shown her love and support throughout her life and especially this past year during Courtney's experience with colon cancer and treatments.
On Saturday, December 16, a celebration of Courtney’s life will take place at Kamaole Beach Park II late afternoon until sunset.
