His passion was diving for tako offshore of Kaiona Beach Park and fishing for aholehole at the Makai pier in Waimanalo and was called “tako man” by those who experienced him coming onto the shore displaying the tako entwining their legs around his arms. He had many hobbies, including carving figurines, making Kukui and Kamani nut leis and earrings, playing cards, doing sudoku and word find.
David loved his family and displayed that by cooking and baking their favorite foods upon their request, even when he visited the mainland.
Due to COVID 19 protocols and restrictions around the numbers of people who can gather, a public Viewing Only for David will be held at Nakamura’s Mortuary Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m. We ask that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing. Cremation will follow, and the scattering of his ashes will be done in Waimanalo after travel restrictions are eased.
