David Yuen Sr's Obituary
David Yuen Sui Kong, Sr, died on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at his residence in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 24, 1930 to Frank and Cecilia Kong, the youngest of four sons. David attended St. Anthony Elementary and High School and graduated with a business degree from Honolulu Business College. He was a union representative for the Hawaii Government Employees Association, a Maui County Council member, Realtor and owner of Nona Lani Cottages.David is survived by his wife, Winona; daughters, Coleen (William) Church, Valerie Kong, Cherlyn Jean Kong, Mona Cockett, Elena (Tommye) Jones and sons; David (Barbara) Kong, Jr. and Ransom (Julie) Kong. He leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandson, expected in January 2012. David is survived by 2 brothers, Joseph (Edna) and George (Audrey); and sister-in-law, May. Preceded in death by his brother, Vivian. Services will be held at St. Theresa Church in Kihei on Thursday, November 17, 2011. Rosary at 9:00am, Public Visitation at 10:00am, Mass at 11:00am. A Celebration luncheon will follow in the church hall. Flower leis appreciated; aloha attire. Private Scattering of Ashes at sunset is held for the immediate relatives of David Kong and Joseph Kia Nae'ole family.Special Thank you for the medical care: Dr. Gayland Yee, nurse Hoku & staff, Dr. Phillip Milne, nurse Margaret & staff, Jane Foley & Maui Memorial Medical Center, Hale Makua Home Health staff & Hospice Maui.
