I thought of Don last night as my grandbabies attended a live performance of the nutcracker. I remember taking my grandbabies when they were very little to see a performance in Denver. That Don had choreographed my grandbabies were in awe then Don as they were last night.
My fond memory of Don was in the 1970s when I was a student at U of Mich and participated in a research cruise w/ Don being the Chief Scientist from Puerto Rico. He was so wonderful to us students on & off the ship. He took care of us and was our friend and mentor. While waiting for the ship, we all stayed at his home, he took us surfing, and even secretly boating at night to a place called Phosphorescence Bay. To this day I still think back fondly of that time and him. And for that reason, after all these years, I still have kept my photos. My heart goes out to his family. I am so very sorry for his passing. In reading these shared thoughts and memories, it is quite apparent that in his life Don had an amazing impact on so many people. He was a wonderfully talented and incredible person.
Respectfully,

To Don's family,
Just found out about Don's death today, August 12,2016.
I lived in Bellaire when Don, I, and a group of runners competed
in the 2 mile at McGregor Park and we would run on buffalo bayou and on the Bellaire High Track. He was a great inspiration to me and I remember when he left corporate Exxon to go to the University of Mayaquez in Puerto Rico. He led a full life and I know all the family will miss him. He was about 11 years my senior and I am still an active runner and cyclist with many thanks to Don for his inspiration.

Dear Don, with the thought that you might know I am writing you, you cross my mind so often, I just looked you up to see you have moved on. I am sorry I was unaware of this shift on your beautiful and inspiring life. Your late in life dance career is an inspiration to me, and no doubt to many others. A scientist who's creative genius constantly searched for new platforms to express. I have no doubt that you are continuing to dance, explore, love. Your life leaves me with a big smile..
