Donald Sadami Karimoto's Obituary
Donald Sadami Karimoto passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Wailuku on Sunday, January 5th, 2025. He was 87 years of age.
He was born on April 5, 1937, on Maui and was raised in Hali'imaile by his father Shoichi and mother Teruko with one brother (Allan) and one sister (Betty). Mr. Karimoto is a 1955 graduate of Maui High School (Hamakuapoko) and Los Angeles State College. He was an educator for over 30 years and retired as the principal of Makawao Elementary. He served on numerous boards and committees and was a close friend and staunch supporter of Representative Bob Nakasone.
He enjoyed golfing, going to Las Vegas, the Los Angeles Rams and the Dodgers, watching old cowboy shows and spending time with his family.
He is predeceased by his parents and sister. He is survived by Mae, his wife of 64 years, daughter Denise (husband Wade), Hayden and Jeter (grandchildren), and brother Allan (wife Janie). Services will be held on January 17, 2025, at Nakamura Mortuary Wailuku. Public viewing at 11:30am with service at 12:00pm.
