Dorotea was born on February 7, 1938 in Laoag City, Philippines. She was the youngest of 7 children born to Cesario & Lorenza Dela Cruz. In 1958, Dorotea married Rustico Santos, and together they raised five children. In 1978, the Santos family moved to Maui, where Dorotea began working at the Royal Lahaina Resort, later retiring from the Maui Marriott as a housekeeper.
Following her retirement, she became very interested in traveling, enjoying trips to Las Vegas, the Caribbean, and the Philippines. She also spent time watching Filipino TV shows and reading Filipino magazines. Mrs. Santos was also known for her green thumb; she had a bountiful garden of both flowers and vegetables. As in her garden, Dorotea always nurtured her relationship with the Lord, and was a long-time, faithful member of the Christ the King community.
Her family and friends will remember her as a sweet, thoughtful and generous woman who loved her family unconditionally.
In Heaven she will join her beloved husband of 59 years, Mr. Rustico Santos; brothers, Benigno (Luciana) & Gregorio Dela Cruz; sisters, Felonita (Filemon) Aguinaldo, Esperanza (Alejo) Gudal & Augustina (Andres) Sotto.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons; Roger (Martina), Robert (Celia), Roland (Naty) & Roy (Loyda) Santos; daughter, Rosela (Keith) Bunton; sisters, Filomena Pascua & Anita Murf; sister-in-law, Juanita Dela Cruz; and grandchildren, Ken, Kelly, Roland Jr., Donna, Rozcel, Czarina, Czeara, Kayla, Erika, Samantha, and Alexis.
