Dorothy Jane Gouveia's Obituary
Dorothy Jane Gouveia, 84, of Kahului, passed away peacefully at Maui Memorial Medical Center on September 24, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Services honoring Mrs. Gouveia will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Saturday, October 7, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, with services beginning at 11:00am. Mrs. Gouveia will be laid to eternal rest at Maui Memorial Park at 12:30pm. Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.
Dorothy was born in Puunene on October 5, 1932 to Johnny and & Margaret Gouveia. She was very outgoing and enjoyed talking story with friends, family and strangers alike. She was affectionately known around town as “The Soup Lady” for her famous Portuguese bean soup, which she shared with just about everyone.
Mrs. Gouveia was predeceased by her husband, Edward Gouveia; and their son, Ronald Gouveia.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Julie (Hollis) Lee; son, Edward (Suk) Gouveia; daughter, Charlene Gouveia; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 4 great- great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Harmon; sisters, Irene Botheilho & Patsy Daffren; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
