Dorothy Cagasan Pellazar's Obituary
Dorothy Cagasan Pellazar, 85 and affectionately known as “Neneng” passed away peacefully at her home in Paia on September 20th surrounded by family. She was born in Kaheka, Maui on February 6, 1935 to the late Laureano and Damasa Cagasan.
She is survived by her husband Euprepes Bill Pellazar and her children – son William (Mary Ann) and daughter Angela (Phillip) Benoit. She leaves behind two grandsons, Elijah Pellazar and Max Benoit; two granddaughters, Chastity (Zenas) Pellazar-Romero and Kendall Benoit and one great granddaughter, Mikaila Pellazar.
Also survived by sisters Natividad “Bedung” (Philip “Tatong” +) Genobia and Benedicta “Titung” (Joe) Flores and also brother George (Carmen) Cagasan. She is preceded in death by sisters Ramona “Mana” (Paterno Sr.+) Pencerga, Lourdes “Babo” (Robert+) Ueda and Juana Cagasan and brothers Sozimo “Simo” (Lileng+) Cagasan, Gorgonio “Greg” (Trini) Cagasan, Eliseo “Las” Cagasan and Andrew Cagasan.
She attended Holy Rosary Parish School and graduated from Maui High School, Class of 1953. Dorothy worked at the Haserot Pineapple Cannery in Haiku, Papaya Hill health food store in Paia and as a produce clerk at Ah Fooks Supermarket before retiring to care for her grandchildren and great grandchild which brought her the greatest joy. For many years Dorothy enjoyed working at the Holy Rosary Thrift Shop. She had a beautiful voice and loved singing, often featured in several popular Filipino dance and other bands back in the day. She also sang with the Happy Visayans choral group and in the Holy Rosary Church choir for many years and at numerous parties.
The family wishes to send out a heartfelt mahalo to Islands Hospice – Kristin, Vivian, Lauren, Liz, Ohana, Ashley, Dr. Noel Termulo and the awesome staff for their loving care.
Due to the Pandemic Covid-19 restrictions, funeral services are pending. A Memorial Mass may be held and announced at a later date. Memorials and condolences may be sent to: Angela Benoit, P. O. Box 791014, Paia HI 96779. Nakamura’s Mortuary has been assisting with arrangements.
