Edward Shigeo "Shige" Akamine's Obituary
Edward Shigeo (Shige) Akamine, 77 passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2023. He was born in Paia, Maui on March 19, 1945. He is Predeceased by his parents Ushi and Usako Akamine and brother Roy (Lani) Akamine.
He is survived by his loving wife Sandi Akamine; Sister Janet (George) Nakashima; brother George (Helen) Uyehara; 2 sons, Jason (Maileen) Akamine, Corey Akamine; 2 Grandchildren Jaycee-Ann Aiko Arline Kuulei Akamine, Graydon Iakona Shigeo Akamine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shige loved working on projects at home and doing yard work, he also loved traveling to Las Vegas.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday April 15, 2023, at King's Cathedral · Church in Kahului, Maui. Viewing starts at 9:30 am, followed by services at 10:30am with Military honors.
The family would like to Thank Dr. James Marocco and Pastor Colleen of Kings Cathedral and their Staff, family and friends for their prayers, encouragement, and meals. Also Thank you to Maui Memorial Park and Nakamura Mortuary, Hospice Maui, Maui Memorial Medical Center, and the special nurses in Oncology who took extreme care of Shige during his treatments.
