Elaine Tomi Kanda's Obituary
Elaine Tomi Kanda, 101, died on August 14, 2012 at her home in Wailuku under the care of Hospice Maui.Private services to be held by the family in Honolulu.Mrs. Kanda was born on February 10, 1911 in Hakalau, Hawaii. She was the daughter of Tokuzo and Ichi Okazaki.She was an Elementary School Teacher with the State of Hawaii, Department of Education. After retirement she worked in clothing sales including managing shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and San Diego, California.She is survived by her brother, Dr. Suewo (Agnes) Okazaki of Honolulu. She was predeceased by seven siblings that gave her 2 nieces, 7 nephews, 6 grand nephews/nieces and 2 great-grand nephews/nieces.Elaine regularly attended Iao United Church of Christ up to a month prior to her passing.She enjoyed music and playing the piano, even at 101 years old.
