Ellen Erika Belconis' Obituary
Ellen Belconis, age 94 years, lived on Maui in Napili for 18 years, and for the past year in Kihei. She formerly resided in Warwick, Rhode Island. Ellen passed away peacefully on April 18, 2021, at Maui Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness, with family by her side.
She was predeceased by husband Robert Breen of Napili, Maui and husband William Belconis of Rhode Island.
She will be deeply missed by her children; Patricia (Robert) Fontana of Maui, Gary (Maria) Belconis of Florida; grandchildren Pamela (Christopher) DiMartino and Jeffrey (Jen) Coppola, and 4 great-grandchildren, all in Connecticut.
Ellen was born November 22, 1926, in Germany, and later lived in Switzerland. She came as a bride to the U.S. in 1953 and lived in Rhode Island for 50 years. She was very active in the community as director for the Warwick Arts Foundation, then became Activities Director for the International Institute of RI, an immigration and refugee support agency. She made a mid-life career change to become a licensed massage therapist, working until she retired to Maui.
Ellen had a deep interest in yoga and taught classes for seniors for many years, enthusiasm for ukulele music, passion for the performing arts and concerts at the MACC. She attended many activities at the Senior Center, traveled widely and enjoyed going on cruises.
She cherished her many friends here on Maui and around the world. She was a generous person, full of positive energy and an inspiration to many.
A celebration of Ellen's life will be held at a later date.
