Ellen Yamamura's Obituary
Ellen Yamamura, beloved wife, mother, dear friend, and selfless educator, passed away on February 7, 2024, in Kahului, Hawaii. She was born on November 9, 1947, in Honolulu, HI, to Jenichi and Hisae Okamoto. Ellen was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Fong.
Ellen was a graduate of McKinley High School and later pursued her higher education at the University of Hawaii. With a passion for teaching, she dedicated her career to shaping young minds as an Elementary School Teacher at Haiku Elementary School.
Outside of her professional life, Ellen found joy in various hobbies. She spent her free time strumming the ukulele at Kaunoa Senior Center, spreading happiness through music. Additionally, she volunteered at Bailey House, where she selflessly gave her time and energy to support her community.
Ellen's warm and caring nature extended beyond her work and hobbies. She was a loving mother to her children, Neal and Amber, and a devoted wife to her husband, Danny. Her family and friends were always touched by her kindness and compassion.
Ellen's life was enriched by her faith, and she found solace and strength in worship. She found a spiritual home at Alalani United Methodist, where she nurtured her relationship with her faith community.
Ellen Yamamura will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to education will continue to inspire and impact generations to come.
Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Nakamura Mortuary located at 1218 Lower Main Street, Wailuku, HI 96793. Visitation starts at 9:15 a.m; Service at 10:00 a.m.
