Elmara Kuulei DeKluijver's Obituary
Elmara DeKluijver, 69, of Haiku, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2015 at Hale Makua Wailuku with her loving family by her side.
Services honoring Mrs. DeKluijver will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Thursday, December 17, 2015. Visitation will begin at 9:30am, with services beginning at 10:30 a.m., a reception will follow services. Mrs. DeKluijver will be laid to eternal rest at 1:30 p.m. at Valley Isle Memorial Park in Haiku.
Mrs. DeKluijver was born on April 8, 1946 in Pauwela. She was the 7th of 10 children born to Felix & Rose Kehano. She attended both Haiku School and Old Maui High School, graduating in 1964. In October of 1970, Elmara married Teunis “Dutch” DeKluijver and the young couple raised five
children together. Throughout her career, Elmara had a few different jobs, finally retiring from the Foodland deli after ten years in Pukalani as a prep cook. After her retirement, Elmara enjoyed creating flower arrangements with her friends and taking care of her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Mrs. DeKluijver will be remembered as a strong-willed task master who was loving, caring and compassionate.
She was predeceased by her husband Teunis “Dutch” DeKluijver; her son, Dutch DeKluijver; and great grandson, Legend King. She is survived by her children, Jason Lonzaga, Valorie (Gilly Montalvo) Akana, Heidi (Napoleon Jr.) Tadena, Nicole (Bradley) Gomes; grandchildren, Jeremiah
Rabanes, Brittny King, Easton Chong Kee, Samantha and Randi Lonzaga, Ashiley and Megan Akana, Brooke, Taylor and Ikaika Tadena; Brandy and Brieane Gomes; 5 great grandchildren;
brothers, Ralph, Rudy, Larry and Roland Kehano; and sisters, Brenda Moniz and Adela Cuttie.
