Enoki (Kats) Takiguchi Katsuko's Obituary
Katsuko (Kats) Takiguchi Enoki passed away at home August 20, 2025 at the age of 94. She was born October 15, 1930 in Kahului, Maui by home delivery to Hideo and Toyomi (Ito) Takiguchi. She was the 5th of 9 children-
6 girls, 3 boys. The family moved to Maalaea when she was 5 years old as her dad was an aku fisherman, then moved to Wailuku where she grew up from the ages of 8 to 17.
Katsuko graduated from Baldwin High School, Queen’s School of Nursing, University of
Washington School of Nursing (Bachelor of Science Nursing, Public Health Nursing
Certificate) and University of Hawaii (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner). Her work history included Queen’s Hospital, Maui Memorial Hospital, Hana Hospital, Hawaii State Hospital, Head Start Nurse, Psychiatric Nurse Supervisor, Public Health Nurse, and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. (Served as Registered Nurse and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Oahu and Maui, HI, Seattle, WA and Guam.)
Katsuko was married to Gary Tsutomu Enoki, the love of her life, for 20 years, until he passed away in 1979 at the age of 50. They had 3 children- Karen (Vic) Najjar, Ted (Shelley) Enoki and Guy (Josephine) Enoki. She is survived by 2 sisters and a brother-Yoshiko
(Richard) Fujiwara, Bill (Remy) Takiguchi, Stella (Mitts) Tamura, her 3 children,
9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Katsuko kept herself busy involved in numerous clubs and organizations and held many leadership positions in these over the years (especially Family Community Education, Pookela Church, ChildWatch at YMCA, Red Cross). She enjoyed seeing new places and went to Israel, China, Japan, Germany (Oberamegau), Switzerland, England, France, Guam, Mexico, Canada and many states in the US. She loved working in her garden for hours, sometimes watching the sun set from her yard as she finished up.
Memorial Services will be held at Nakamura’s Mortuary in Wailuku, 1218 Lower Main St., on November 6, 2025. Family Visitation at 9 am, Public Visitation at 9:30 am, Service at
10 am, followed by a Light Lunch Reception. Casual attire is requested.
