Erma M. Santana's Obituary
Erma Santana, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2017 under the care of Hospice Maui, with loving family by her side.
Services honoring Ms. Santana will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Nakamura
Mortuary. Visitation will begin at 9:00am, and service at 11:00am. She will be laid to eternal
rest at Maui Memorial Park at 12:30pm.
Erma was born on August 9, 1953, in Barangay Cali, Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines to Victoriano (Addong) and Maria Hidalgo. She is the third of seven children. She attended St. Joseph High School in Dingras. She eventually migrated to Hawaii in hopes for a better future and life for herself.
Erma was a humble, quiet, hard working person, who was always there to help her brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces in the Philippines. She loved to cook pancit and pinakbet, she also cooked for the famous Ma-Chan’s Restaurant and later worked at Sam Sato’s as a cook; she loved to watch Filipino dramas on television, but most importantly, spend time with her loved ones.
Erma leaves to cherish her memory, brothers, Eddie (Leticia) Munoz, Virgilio Hidalgo, Manuel Hidalgo, and Arnulfo Munoz (deceased); sisters, Brigida (Jose) Manaran, and Revelina (Lito) Habab; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunties in Hawaii and in the Philippines.
Erma’s family would like to extend their thanks to Hospice Maui, who took very good care of her and always moved swiftly when the call bell rang, Maui Memorial Hospital, Dr. Keyes and staff at Pacific Cancer Institute (Chemotherapy), Dr. Arruda and staff at Maui Medical Group, and pastor Robb at the Wailuku Union Church for their prayers.
Erma will be remembered for her love, generosity, and hardworking spirit. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, dogs Kira and Titan, and her love birds.
