Ernesto Abalos Somera's Obituary
Ernesto Abalos Somera, 76, of Kihei, passed away on November 1, 2020 in
the comfort of Hospice Maui, surrounded by his immediate family. Ernesto was born on July 26, 1944 to Vicente and Cecilia Somera in the Philippines. He is predeceased by his parents, Vicente and Cecilia Somera, Vicente Somera Jr. (Brother) and Benjamin Somera (Brother). He is survived by his wife, Laureana Pio Arellano Somera, children, Lorena (Lee) Kashiwamura, Renato Romero Jr, Erick (Jamie Garcia) Somera, Nathaniel (Dheane Galiza) Somera. Sisters, Florencia Infantado and Jocelyn Alvarado, brother, Rafael (Miriam) Somera, Grandchildren, Jayme-Lynn (Kalei Kamahele) Kashiwamura, Ty Kashiwamura, Lane Kashiwamura, Lea (Ethan Egdamin) Kashiwamura, Russell Romero, Nathaniel Romero, Jean Romero, Dana
Romero, Julie-Ann Somera-Pagdilao, Kiyana-Marie (Kobi-Ryne Kuge) Garcia Wakamatsu, Rime Somera. 1 Great-Granddaughter Mikayla Kamahele. His father Vicente Somera Sr. brought Ernesto to Hawaii in the early 70’s. Ernesto worked as a construction worker for Reef Development, then he retired, once his health declined. He was a workaholic. He was known to all construction workers as “Lovely”. He loved going to the drag races, fishing, diving, spending time with family. During his retirement, he spent most of his days with his grandchildren. The Family of Ernesto Somera would like to thank the AMR, The Maui Memorial Medical Center ER and ICU unit, and Hospice Maui for the compassionate care during his stay there. Private services were held on December 2, 2020 at Nakamura Mortuary
