Eunice Anna Antosik's Obituary
Eunice Anna Antosik, 95, of Lahaina, HI, passed away peacefully at her home on January 23, 2013. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.Eunice was born in New York City, New York, on November 7, 1917, to parents Marco V. Lauria and Mabel L. Hauser Lauria. After traveling extensively with her family throughout her school years, she graduated high school in Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to California. Taking ownership of the SOS Club in the 1950’s, she was the first female bar owner in Long Beach, California. In 1957, she took a trip to Las Vegas with a nice, young man named Andy, to marry him. They were married for 55 years. The couple decided to make Lahaina their home in 1976.Eunice began her political affiliations in 1985, after taking the helm as one-time meeting parliamentarian, in lieu of the absent Puamana Home Owner’s Association President. She became a strong presence in the Puamana Community Association, missing only 3 meetings in over 20 years, and was often called to keep order at Board and Homeowner meetings well into her 90’s.Eunice’s artistic accomplishments are not to be discounted. She was a Master Flower Show Judge, a recipient of a Master Certificate in Ikebana Arranging, an active member of the National Garden Club, and an avid floral arranger whose designs have been displayed in the Puamana clubhouse lobby, and throughout Lahaina, since 1977. In addition to her keen and artful floral arranging skills, Eunice also admired gourmet food, and was a recognized cook. In his proclamation to her, recounting her contributions to Maui on her 95th birthday, Mayor Arakawa noted that she cooked with master chefs throughout the island, and the mainland.Eunice is survived by her loving and caring husband, Andy Antosik.She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
