I came to Maui in 1979, just for a visit. My friend Bob Malone had given me a phone number for "some nice people" . I had no clue about Maui. I called the number from the airport...the quonset hut. With the big banyon tree. Faith answered the phone. When I mentioned Bob she said " just wait in front of airport, a fat guy driving a beater pickup will pick you up" .That was Frank. He took me to their home in Haiku. There was a shack in the gulch behind the house. Frank said " just make yourself at home, my wife will cook for you, you can stay as long as you like." That was my introduction to concept of aloha. I soon found a job and another place to live, but the aloha they shared is a huge part of why I am still here.
My eternal gratitude to the Munden family. Mahalo, aloha
May the longtime sun shine upon you and the clear light guide your way home
