Flora K. Yashiro's Obituary
Flora “Flo” K. Yashiro, 85, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 17, 2015 at her residence in Wailuku, Maui.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 am with funeral services in Flo’s honor beginning at 10:00a.m., on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Nakamura Mortuary. The family requests casual attire and no koden or flowers please. Flo will be laid to rest at Maui Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. following her service.
Flo was born Jan. 24, 1930 in Puunene Hospital, Maui. She was the second daughter and second oldest of five children of Kiujiro and Kisano Yamaguchi.
As a newlywed, she took a big leap of faith and moved to Wisconsin where she became a homemaker and raised her three children for approximately 38 years. She was an avid cook and took great pleasure in baking to the benefit of her friends and family. Flo also loved reading and enjoyed volunteering at the local public elementary school’s library which she continued to do until she moved back to Maui.
Flo leaves behind her loving husband of 65 years, Roy Yashiro; two sons, Jerrold (Joni Ekimura) Yashiro and Neil (Charlene) Yashiro; and a daughter, Candace (Peter) Stahl, who will cherish her memory. Flo also leaves her four beloved grandchildren: Jonathan, Mari, Nytn, and Nyck Yashiro. She is also survived by her sister, Lorraine Thorne; brother, Don (Henriette) Yamaguchi; brother-in-laws Tosh Tasaka and Dennis Mayehara, and numerous nieces and nephews.
