Francis Kaipo Asiu Sr. 's Obituary
Francis Kaipo Asiu Sr., 83 of Wailuku, Maui passed away on February 8, 2020. He was born to Joseph and Mary Asiu on November 30, 1936 in Wailuku, Maui.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy retiring after 22+ years. Following his career in the Navy, Francis worked for Ka Lima O Maui as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for another 20 years. While with Ka Lima, he coached special olympic athletes for several years. Francis also participated in the athletic community on Maui by coaching various sports teams including: Wheelchair Basketball, T-Ball, Little League, Bobby Sox, Men’s Mountain Ball, Women’s Softball & Baldwin High School’s Girls Softball team during the 1980’s. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Nakamura Mortuary in Wailuku from 9:00am to 10:00am; prayer service over urn to begin at 10:00am. Military honor service to follow at Maui Veterans Cemetery at 1:00pm in Makawao.
Francis is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Eleanor “Betty” Asiu; sons, Francis “Franny”, “Sonny” K. Asiu Jr. & Arlie-Avery (Kuhea) Asiu; daughters, Patricia “Sissy” York (Chris Hicks) & Karen Asiu (Sonia Gaudet); grandchildren, Kyle Ray, Amanda (John) Malubay, Toby York, & Kai’ulani Hicks; great-grandchildren, Christopher Malubay, Caleb Malubay & Kinsley Ray.
