Francis Moody Kahoohalahala's Obituary
Francis Moody Kaho’ohalahala 79, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2023, at his residence in Kahului, Maui, under Hospice care. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Nakamura Mortuary, Wailuku. Viewing/visitation from 9am-11am, service from 11am-12pm, burial to follow at Maui Memorial Park Cemetery, Wailuku. Most popularly known to many as “Moody”, he retired from the State Dept of Accounting & General services (DAGS). Moody was a dedicated Baseball & Basketball Coach for numerous years for the Wailuku Pony League and White Sox teams and helped coach the 1983 Hawaii State Little League Championship Allstar team from Maui. He also coached the Kahului Menehune Basketball team in the 1980s where he touched the lives of many youths on Maui. Moody is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 57 years, Sandra (Lau Hee) Kaho’ohalahala; Three daughters Yvette (Leighton) Kaho’ohalahala Kanaele, Michele (Neal) Cabral, Jayme (Brandon Silva) Kaho’ohalahala and 7 grandchildren; Kalaika Kaho’ohalahala, Nohea Kaho’ohalahala Salgado, Kalae Kaho’ohalahala Kanaele, Austin Cabral, Pokai Kaho’ohalahala Kanaele, Deegan Silva and Teani Kaho’ohalahala Silva, and his faithful 4-legged companion “Maile”. Moody is also survived by his brother Charles Moody and two half-sisters Darlene Lei Barr and Patty Pualani Gull. Francis was preceded in death by, his hanai father Pili Solomon Kaho’ohalahala, his hanai mother Elizabeth Lee Hong, his biological father Charles Dan Moody & his biological mother Agnes Akoni. His hanai sisters, Malia Pu ̅ou/Poaipuni & Lelani Levi. Half-sisters, Thelma Kanani Kamekona, Edith Puanani Brown, Dequita Nohea Dunton & Charlene Lani Puzey. Hanai brother George Kaho’ohalahala & Half-brother Robert Keli’iho’omalu.
