Frank Puanani Ryder Jr., 93 Embraced in the spirit of aloha with ʻohana at his side, Frank Puanani Ryder Jr., 93 of Wailau, Kahaluʻu, Oʻahu & Kula, Maui, passed into the light peacefully at home on August 1, 2025. He was born on November 22, 1931 in Wailau, Kahaluʻu, Hawaiʻi to Mae Uluhane Hoʻokano & Frank Ryder Sr. He attended Waiāhole School, Benjamin Parker High School & graduated from Roosevelt High School Class of 1950. He was a Korean War Veteran USMC. He retired from Hawaiian Telephone. Puanani is survived by his brother Thomas Wayne Ryder (Bonnie). Children, Leona Lei’ohu & Maydeen, Kawehi & Debbie, Tiare & Alva, Mitchell, Miliaulani & Aaron, Barrett Kalama, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, family, friends & hānai ʻohana that he lovingly embraced during his lifetime. He was predeceased by his wife Miriam Leinani Ryder, brothers James William Ryder, Clarence Puaʻala Ryder, Roy Ryder, grandson’s Iōkewe Ryder & Keoniana Ryder. Celebration of Life will be held at https://St.Johns by the Sea Church in Kahaluʻu on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm followed by ʻAha ʻĀina Make a me ka Haku at Hoʻokano Hall.
