I have worked at Bayer in Maui since 2009...so I started about 4 years later than Lee. For many years since I started, I knew of Lee but didn't know him well as our jobs didn't overlap much (he was on the agronomy team and I was on the early season team). As my roles at the site changed in around 2013/2014, I ended up in a spot where I needed to interact more regularly with Lee. It was at this point that I began to get to know Lee better. Previously, i felt like he was a tough person to talk to. He seemed not so willing to open up to me. But once we got to know each other through our work, it became really clear to me that Lee was a super friendly and easy-going guy. Lee was a straight shooter...he called it as it is. I appreciated his honesty and candor. I appreciated Lee's always down-to-earth and realistic views on work and on life in general. I greatly respect the hard work that Lee always put in to help our company be successful...which, in turn...helped make my job easier. He was a great co-worker who always did the best he could to contribute in any way possible. More recently, Lee and I worked together so that Lee could learn how to present data to our team at weekly team meetings. Previously, other individuals at the site had owned this...but we believed that Lee was capable of doing this, and that it would give him good exposure within the company. I was pleased how qiuckly Lee picked up on what I taught him, and it made a big difference to the team. We will miss his weekly updates on upcoming plantings. He did a great job on them, as he did in everything he worked on at our site. I know Lee was a big fan of burgers and a cold one. I hope he's enjoying one up in heaven now as we celebrate the wonderful life he led. He will never be forgotten! Thanks for everything, Lee!
